About Gill Cleeren

Gill Cleeren is a Microsoft Regional Director, Windows Platform MVP and Pluralsight author. Gill focuses on mobile development for the Windows stack as well as Xamarin. Gill is a frequent speaker at many international conferences such as TechDays, TechEd, NDC, VSLive and many more. He also is the founder of Techorama, the biggest developer conference in Belgium and he runs Visug, the .NET user group in Belgium as well.

Course Details


Day 1: Tools, languages and the Azure Cloud

Microsoft has released a new version of C# as well as Visual Studio. New ways to work, more productivity and the integration of the cloud are the key items here. During this first day of the course, students will see what’s new in C# and Visual Studio. We’ll also take a look at how .NET is now evolving into .NET Core and where developers should invest now and in the future. We will then explore the Azure cloud and the options that it offers developers to build applications.

Day 2: The modern web

ASP.NET Core 6 MVC is the new version of ASP.NET MVC that makes it possible to run ASP.NET apps cross-platform. With this new release, Microsoft has updated the platform thoroughly and it oozes with new features. Along with the new version of the server-side framework, a new version of Web API was also released, making it easier to create single-page apps. On the client, Angular keeps getting more popular and we’ll see how we can connect the latter with an ASP.NET Core API.

Day 3: Mobile applications

Recently, Microsoft has acquired Xamarin and it’s now being put forward as the way to create mobile apps for iOS, Android and Windows. Using .NET, C# and Visual Studio, developers can take advantage of their knowledge to build native mobile apps.
