Group Exercises
For some excersizes, you might need to divide the class into separate groups. This is done with the Breakout Sessions feature.
For some excersizes, you might need to divide the class into separate groups. This is done with the Breakout Sessions feature.
To divide the class into groups, you use the “Breakout Rooms” icon in the Zoom controls (the one with four squares).
The first time you go to Breakout Rooms during your session, you will see a dialogue box asking for the number of desired rooms. The students will be automatically and evenly assigned to the rooms, unless you choose the “Manually” option before hitting “Create Rooms”.
Move your pointer over each room in the list to see available options. If you chose to assign the students manually, this is done through the blue “Assign” option to the right of each room.
The rooms will not activate until you click “Open all rooms” at the bottom of the Breakout Rooms box. When you do this, all assigned students will be sent to their breakout rooms.
The students will not see or hear any video, audio or presentation from outside their own breakout rooms.
When it’s time for all to meet in the classroom again, just click the “Close all rooms” button.
By default, the students will have one minutes notice before the room closes and back in the classroom.
The countdown time before closing the breakout rooms as mentioned above, plus some other features, might be adjusted by you through the options menu at the bottom of the Breakout Rooms box.
If you are happy with the rooms you just used, you can leave them and close the Breakout Rooms box.
